Bloody Useless

A Stop Motion Short Film

In a mistreated body, the organs are forced to work together to remove a foreign object

Bloody Useless is a stop motion short film following organs within the body as they try to remove a foreign object.

I pitched this film with my director, Leigh Cleverley, during our second year of university. Shortly after our pitch was successfully chosen, Leigh and I were joined by other students. With a core team of six and additional freelancers, we had 12 weeks to produce this short film from pre-production to the final edit. With seven puppets and only one set, production was a swift process. The live action elements were filmed within one session with our amazing lecturer, Pete Felstead, acting as our human for the organs.

Being vastly different from the first stop motion I produced, Greenham Common Women, Bloody Useless highlighted certain aspects within the pipline that had not been recognised previously. As the director and I had worked closely together previously, our communication was strong and made the teams dynamics amazing.
